KEEP ISLINGTON MOVING
Say No to Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs)
Barnsbury
The proposed Barnsbury.Laycock "Liveable Neighbourhood" is currently the main target of KIM's anti-LTN campaigning. In fact we have set up a dedicated "Keep Barnsbury Moving" project dedicated to this activity with its own website, here.

This is the largest LTN yet proposed by Islington Council and the most draconian to date with no less than 15 new traffic camera filters which would effectively prevent the free movement of motorised traffic across the area in either a North-South or East-West direction. This will have the effect of diverting such traffic on to the area's boundary roads including Caledonian Road, Holloway Road, Pentonville Road and Upper Street, as well as on to Liverpool Road, the important throughfare which runs through the middle of the area. The result will be a disaster for anyone living or working on these roads and for all those who rely on a car or van to get about, including the disabled, the old or infirm, and most tradespeople and small businesses together with their customers. For more details, see the Quick Links below.

Currently (summer 2024) we have had two rounds of highly unsatisfactory "consultations" organised by the Council (who are refusing to reveal the results) and we are awaiting publication of the "final proposals" which will then be subject to another consultation expected in autumn 2024. Watch this space!
